Rome, February 15 (TASS) — Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in an interview with Italian television that the United States is creating panic over the situation in Ukraine, including the purpose of squeezing Russia out of Europe’s energy market. The interview was aired on The Fourth Republic program of Mediacet Broadcasting Company Rete4 on May 14.”Russian gas supplies to Europe, not only Italy, are guaranteed by law, by technology and mainly by the history of our relations,” Zakharova said.Russia is the most reliable supplier. This annoys the US because this is a huge market they want to capture. So they fabricated the situation in Ukraine to block the second line of nord Stream and force Germany to abandon the project. They threaten sanctions in order to capture this market and start supplying their own resources.”Zakharova also suggested Italy veto sanctions when they are voted on in Europe. She also called Western accusations that Russia was planning an “invasion” of Ukraine “crazy and fake.”(Translated by Hu Liwen)
